Futsal Development Programme Review
Session Date: Wednesday 10th October 2018
Learning Block: Ball Mastery
Session Focus: Beating a player in parity - 1v1s, 2v2s etc
Over the last two weeks, players have been exposed to various technical and tactical aspects of Futsal surrounding Ball Mastery and a players ability to turn on and manipulate the ball. This week the players were provided with an opportunity to test these skills across 6 themed matches which forced players to move their way through tight spaces whilst retaining the ball and applying their skills to game situations.
WHAT: Our themed matches were related to the outcomes of 1v1s, 2v2s & 3v3s with different games offering different bonus points. Our 1v1 round allowed players to win bonus points for their teams if/when they successfully beat a player in a 1v1. Our 2v2 round focused on combinations with nearby teammates to exploit space in tight areas, with the challenge of creating a chances. Our 3v3 round allowed for an extra player to join in the combination & looked at players movements off the ball to receive a forward pass before creating a chance.
HOW: We split our group into 4 teams with every team playing each other once - bonus points & game points were added together to determine the top two teams who progressed into an end of session final.
WHY: Our 'Games Week' are very important to how our group learn within a competitive game environment, allowing them to play enjoyable tournaments with bonus points awarded for successful learning outcomes. It's important we deliver regular learning related tournaments every few weeks to further enhance individuals learning in a realistic game situation.
- 1v1s - Can you exploit space for your team by attacking forward spaces?
- 2v2s - Can you combine with a nearby teammate to exploit spaces behind defenders? What passes can you make & what runs can you make to receive?
- 3v3s - You now have an additional player, what runs can they make to help your choice on the ball, can they drag a defender out to make an overload?
Next weeks topic sees us continue with our Ball Mastery phase and will take the players on a journey through 'Chaos Games'. This will allow players to practice new skills with high levels of interference, stressing and developing the players cognitive abilities.
