Pre-Academy Centre Review
Week Commencing: W/C 5th & 12th November 2018
Learning Block: Ball Mastery & Intelligent Defending
Session Focus: Technical Carousel Competition & 'How can I use my body to stop an attacker?'
It's been an eventful last two weeks of our Pre-Academy Centre at Bracknell Town & Berks County as we finished Ball Mastery with a Technical Carousel session & started Intelligent Defending with 'How can I use my body to stop an attacker?'.
WHAT: Our Technical Carousel week focused on different technical areas of development as players were introduced to a game/practice focusing on a specific technical detail - 1v1s, Shooting, Passing, Receiving & Ball Control.
Our Intelligent Defending session was structured around 1v1 Defending & using your body effectively to stop an attacker.
HOW: We used two ways of defending 1v1 for our groups - it's important we don't overload too much information to our Pre-Academy age groups as too many points can cause confusion & forgetting the initial important points. Therefore, without the ball our players used two trigger words: -
WHY: 1v1 Defending instills the correct foundations in our Pre-Academy players - we want our players to be in the mindset of 'that's my ball' & 'I'm not letting him have my ball', so having speed & strength allows our players to press the attacker with the ball, and being brave in order to win back the ball for his/her team.
Well done to our Players of the Week below who stood out within their groups.
This week, we have a session focused on the press with 'How quickly can I press an attacker to stop them from scoring?'
