EPC are very excited to deliver our PE programme at Sandy Lane Primary School for the upcoming autumn term. This page has been set up to offer an insight into our philosophy & syllabus, as well as providing latest news and updates for parents.
The PE lessons at Sandy Lane will be delivered by our Director's of Coaching, Dan Sleet & Lee Simpson, who have numerous years experience in delivering PE lessons to primary schools in Bracknell Forest, as well as holding roles in academies at professional football clubs, Brentford FC & Fulham FC respectively. As well as creating a PE syllabus, Dan & Lee have also created a syllabus for our Player Development Programme for young footballers aged 5 - 12.
As well as our other PE delivery at 5 primary schools in Bracknell & Reading, we will be providing a high-quality coaching delivery from a coaching syllabus installed by our Director's of Coaching.
WHAT CAN MY CHILD EXPECT TO LEARN IN PE LESSONS AT SANDY LANE?
Our PE coaching syllabus focuses solely on the individual and developing key areas needed to progress in physical education at the Primary School age. Within each lesson, pupils will have individual challenges suited to their needs, and a clear learning focus for each lesson. Our Coaching Team will incorporate areas from the Technical, Physical, Social & Psychological corner to ensure we are committed to improving each individual with their own unique set of needs.
EPC understand fully the individual needs young children have during the key 5 - 11 age range and will ensure we understand each child's strengths & areas for improvement as soon as possible in order to achieve maximum development.
During each lesson, your child can expect to be realistically challenged in sessions that are enjoyable, safe & technical skill specific in a range of different sports included on the PE curriculum. For the upcoming autumn term, Tag-Rugby & Football will be taught to all years with an emphasis on technical skills & match-play.
As well as delivering PE during the school day, our Coaching Team will be providing a range of after-school clubs during the week to Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2. Each club will run from 3.30pm - 4.30pm and will be free of charge (excluding Wednesday Soccer Skills), KS1 children will be collected from their class with KS2 children meeting our coaching team at the location of the club. At 4.30, parents may collect their children on the playground for outdoor clubs, or the upper hall external doors for indoor clubs. Each club is limited to a maximum of 20 children and can be booked on via the booking form at the bottom of this page. Please note - you can not book on for our Wednesday Soccer Skills session through this booking form, this must be done via the letters your child receives through their class teacher.
In addition to our After-School Clubs, our coaches will be taking the lead on the Year 5 & Year 6 football team, delivering weekly coaching on a Thursday afternoon, as well as organising and leading matches against local schools. Through the experience and knowledge Dan Sleet & Lee Simpson possess in coaching football to a high-standard, this will prove invaluable to the development of the young footballers at Sandy Lane.
