DELIVERING DODGEBALL CLUBS AS PART OF OUR AFTER SCHOOL CLUB PROGRAMME
Adding to our growing list of sports that we can offer to primary schools, EPC can now offer Dodgeball Clubs as part of our After-School Club Programme to pupils wishing to experience a different, fun & exciting sport.
Dodgeball is a popular game that is mostly played in PE lessons within Primary Schools and is enjoyed by Boys & Girls in all ages across the year groups. EPC recognise the various benefits Dodgeball has to young children & have designed a programme that challenges and develops the key skills needed for young pupils. Each Dodgeball session starts with a variety of ‘Tag & Movement Games’ that looks to concentrate on ABCs, Motor Skills & Awareness in a range of activities that are played in a fun & enjoyable atmosphere. This atmosphere is vitally important to the EPC, every session is important for young children to help build confidence, self-esteem & to create friendly relationships with other children that they may not necessary see throughout the school day.
WHAT ELSE IS INCLUDED DURING THE SESSIONS?
As well as our Tag & Movement Games that are included throughout our After-School Club Programme, EPC have designed a weekly Dodgeball syllabus that promotes the skills within the sport. Each week the group will follow a session focus that will be used as challenges to win points for individuals & teams. The focus each week can include Reactions, Throwing, Catching, Jumping & many others that we feel is important in the fun-filled games that we deliver. Every session is finished with a Dodgeball tournament that places pupils in small groups that ultimately helps friendly relationships with others as part of a team.
‘Dodger of the Day’ & ‘Hot Shot’ awards are available to all children to win each week.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO DODGEBALL & HOW CAN IT HELP MY CHILD?
Team building – Being part of a team can help children face various challenges, therefore having communication & confidence to successfully complete these challenges is important.
Reaction Speeds & Awareness – The speed in Dodgeball is quick, can the players react and move in situations to avoid being hit? Being aware of the other team & where they are can help this.
Throwing & Catching – This is extremely important for Boys & Girls of all ages and can provide very important foundations for other sports.
Hand Eye Co-ordination – To successfully throw & catch, pupils need to have the correct hand eye co-ordination in order to do this as quickly as possible.
HOW CAN WE SETUP A DODGEBALL CLUB AT OUR SCHOOL?
The EPC would love to speak to Headteachers and/or PE Coordinators in Primary Schools to arrange a free taster session for your children. As well as providing this session as part of our After School Club Programme, we can also offer these sessions before school & during lunchtime. To speak with a member of our team you can do so by clicking here.
